Race Day Information

Race Morning Schedule

6:30 — Packet Pick-Up opens.

7:30 Warm-up begins.

7:45
Get in starting line formation. Faster runners line up near the front, followed by slower runners, and then walkers. Pace signs will help you find your place. Strollers must line up at the back and walk only during the entire event. Remember, headphones are not permitted.

7:55 —
Listen to PA announcements for last-minute instructions.

The Mother’s Day 5K will take place rain or shine. In the unlikely event of dangerous weather, the race director may cancel or amend the race for everyone’s safety. No refunds will be given. If weather conditions are unstable on race morning, check our Facebook group page or phone (913) 643-1460 for last-minute weather cancellation news.

PARKING is plentiful in Corporate Woods. Enter Corporate Woods from either Antioch or College Boulevard. From Antioch, enter on Indian Creek Parkway or 110th Street. From College Blvd, enter on Benson, Grandview, Indian Creek Parkway, or Mastin. Plan to arrive no later than 7:25 a.m. Overland Park Police will restrict traffic on the course from 7:30 to 8:30, and you may have trouble getting in.

START & FINISH: On Indian Creek Parkway in front of Building 40, near our big tent.

RACE NUMBER: Pin it on the front of your shirt.

CHIP: You will be timed electronically by computer timing chip. You must tie the chip onto your shoelace and cross both the start and finish lines to receive your official time in Race Results. Your disposable chip features the 2010 Mother's Day 5K logo and is yours to keep.

WATER
will be available at the start/finish area near the half-way point.

CLOTHING CHECK
will be available at the KC Express table under the tent. Label your gym bag with your name. Please leave valuables at home or locked in the trunk of your vehicle.

COURSE SAFETY
is important. Although the course is monitored by Overland Park Police and our volunteers, please be careful, follow instructions, and watch out for vehicles.

POST-RACE ACTIVITIES
include refreshments, kid's activity area, information booths, awards, and random prize drawings. We hope you'll stay and enjoy the festivities.

PRIZE DRAWINGS
will be held during the race. Check the Prize Board when you finish to see if you have won a prize. More great prizes will be randomly given away during the Awards Ceremony. You must be present to win.

AWARDS CEREMONY
starts at approximately 9:15 a.m. Awards are for the top three women overall, top masters (age 40+), and the top three finishers in 5-year age groups.

RESULTS
will be available race day afternoon at www.mararunning.org.

For everyone’s safety, NO HEADSETS or similar devices, skates, bicycles, dogs, or motorized vehicles are allowed on the course.  Strollers or baby joggers must start at the back and may walk only.
